Versta — Privacy Policy

Versta is a real-time speech-to-text app that helps people who have trouble understanding speech in noisy environments — including those with hearing loss. This privacy policy explains how Versta handles your data.

What data we collect

None. Versta does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. We have no servers and no analytics.

How Versta processes audio

Versta uses your iPhone's microphone to capture speech.
Speech is transcribed to text entirely on your device using Apple's on-device speech recognition (SFSpeechRecognizer with requiresOnDeviceRecognition = true).
Audio is never sent to any server. Apple's speech model runs locally on your iPhone.
Audio is not recorded, saved, or stored anywhere.

Where transcripts are stored

Transcripts you generate are saved to a local log file (versta-log.txt) inside the app's Documents folder on your iPhone.
This file stays on your iPhone. It is not synced, uploaded, or backed up to any external service by Versta.
You can read, share, or delete this file via the iOS Files app.
iOS may include this file in your iCloud or iTunes device backup if you have those enabled — but that backup is controlled by Apple and your device settings, not by Versta.

Permissions

Versta requests two permissions:

Microphone — required to capture speech for live transcription.
Speech Recognition — required to use Apple's on-device speech recognition framework.

Both permissions are used only while you are actively using the app. You can revoke them at any time via iOS Settings → Versta.

What we do not do

No analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs.
No advertising, no ad networks.
No accounts, no login, no email collection.
No network connections of any kind.

Children

Versta is suitable for all ages. It does not collect data, so it does not collect data from children.

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
